Study and Exam Stress

Things getting a bit much?

Are you finding you've got so much homework that you starting to feel like you haven't got time for yourself anymore. The key is to make sure you have a balance between work and leisure. Look at your homework diary and try to do work as it is given to you so avoid things piling up.

Try to plan ahead. So if you've got a longer deadline, note in your diary when you're going to do it and stick to it. This way you won't find yourself doing everything at the last minute.

This means you will be less stressed and will normally have aplenty of time to give work in.

Help is at hand

If things get difficult there are lots of people you can talk to. Your tutor, parents, relatives, friends, Personal Adviser, will all understand what you are going through and can offer help, support and advice.

If you feel things are really getting you down there are organisations and helplines who are experienced in talking to young people. Have a look in the Info Zone for details.

Above all, do not keep things to yourself, there are lots of people willing to listen.

The BBC learning website has helpful information on study skills. And Childline produce a leaflet, available from our Connexions Centres, called 'Exam Stress and How To Beat It'.
