Extra help to get a job
Connexions
Connexions can help you look for work. This could be through 1:1 meetins, job clubs or programmes like Jumpstart that can give you the confidence and job hunting skills you need to get your first training or job opportunity.
Connexions can provide training organisations with a summary of your goals and what help you need to get there. This is called a Section 139 Assessment or an S139.
e2e and Apprenticeships
There is support available within e2e and Apprenticeships.
e2e is designed to give young people the specific help they need to move on to Apprenticeships and work.
New Deal for Disabled People
New Deal for Disabled People could help you once you reach 18 if you get disability or health-related benefits and want to work. It is voluntary - you choose if you want to do it.
You will have a Job Broker who will support you in preparing for and finding work.
Workstep (used to be called Supported Employment)
Workstep could be good fro you if you want to work and develop your skills and need extra support to do so.
This could be extra help from a support worker or extra training. You would get the same wage as your non-disabled colleagues doing the same or similar work.
Access to Work
Access to Work can provide money to help you travel to work.
It can also provide you with support or specialist equipment whilst you are at work.
Help from Jobcentre Plus
Jobcentre Plus also offer:
- Job Introduction Scheme - grants for employers
- Residential training for disabled adults
- 'Help for disabled people' section on their website www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk
